PyData provides a forum for the international community of users and developers of data analysis tools to share ideas and learn from each other. The global PyData network promotes discussion of best practices, new approaches, and emerging technologies for data management, processing, analytics, and visualisation. PyData communities approach data science using many languages, including (but not limited to) Python, Julia, and R.
PyData Dubin is supported by the educational program of NumFOCUS, a non-profit organisation whose focus is to support and promote sustainable high-level programming languages, open code development, and reproducible scientific research. Some of the open source data science tools and projects that they sustain via community donations include:
The PyData Code of Conduct governs this community. To discuss any issues or concerns relating to the code of conduct or the behavior of anyone at a PyData event, please contact NumFOCUS Executive Director Leah Silen (+1 512-222-5449; leah@numfocus.org) or the group organiser Siobhán Grayson.
Want to Present or Host an Event?
Finally, if you’d like to present a talk or become a host for one of our events, please feel free to contact us through one of our many public forums (Twitter being the most active) or via email at:
We’re interested in a range of different talk types:
- 5 minute lightning talks, from describing a library you’ve found useful, to things you wish you’d known when you first started, or even the top 5 packages that you couldn’t live without.
- 15-20 minute talk with questions. Perhaps you’ve recently written a blog, project, or paper that relates to data analysis, management, processing, or visualization. Let us know and we can help you share it with the larger PyData community.
- 40 minute tutorial with questions, not only would you like to share your work but you’re interested in teaching/providing examples of the implementation behind it to.
